Clock Romance

A friend of mine ordered this clock for an 18 year old girl. I didn't have a clue what to do with it but decided on the Graphic 45 papers with roses, feathers and pearls. The sayings are all rub ons and the butterflies are kindy glitzed with pearl bodies. What do you think....will it do?

Baby Girl

I apologise for the quality of this photo but it was taken on my phone. The silver thing you can see is actually a teddy bear charm. The stamps are Just Rite, stamped and layered onto corresponding Nesties. The lace was gathered up by a thread and then taped down with the button in the middle. Two fancy head pins, wrinkled pink ribbon and a charm finished my embellishment. I used a sketch but for the life of me can't remember which one. The lace is gorgeous and I'm a bit sorry now that I put the ribbon over it. Oh well too late now.

I had two weeks school holiday where Dean and his girlfriend needed taxiing around then the last two weeks have been hectic too. My car turns automatically towards Sarina now and sometimes it's 3 or 4 trips a day. Cuts into the day somewhat.

Soft Suede Yesteryear

My friend Jan, loves these Yesteryear cards for the males in her family. Here is one that I made several weeks ago. Someone I know said when she was ordering a pack of soft suede that the colour would be perfect with these Stamp It 9up pictures of Yesteryear images. So I filed that away in my mind and pulled out the soft suede when I had to make this card. Well Charmaine was right!!!! Perfect match. So using black as the base and highlight I made this card. Not much to explain except that the greetings label is actually straight on the card. lol
Jan told me yesterday that her grandson who is a teenager thought the card just fantastic and actually asked about who made it and where his Gran had bought it. For a teenager to go into the in's and out's of a card that's given to him is amazing!!
It's wonderful when you get feedback on the cards you make.

I have been missing in action I know, but with some excuse I feel. I purchased a kit from Sharon at No Time To Stamp in the US called K&Co Blue Awning. It includes the 12 x 12 paper pad, co-ordinating ribbons, a pack of Blue Awning Grand Adhesions flowers, pearls and bling to match.
The amount of cards one can get out of a 12 x 12 paper pad is awesome so I have been purchasing extra accessories in the same Blue Awning range as embellishments.
Up to date I have cut 44 card kits out of the papers and cardstock to match all waiting to be put together with embellishments. I'm determined to use as much of the paper as possible.

Then on top of all that, it's school holidays here for two weeks. We are now into the second week and my son has had his girlfriend here to stay since last Thursday. They both have jobs but start and finish at different times so I've been backwards and forwards to Sarina nearly everyday. I don't mind but it does cut into my crafting time. lol

Finally as another addiction, I joined Facebook which I thought I'd never do. So now I'm playing Farm Ville and Farm Town. In between running to Sarina and back, I'm checking that my crops are growing and haven't withered and died çause I haven't been able to harvest them. pmsl

Right I'm at the end of my long winded post and now I'm off to check out blogs on my Google Reader. Yep, another addiction. Oh yes, and of course organise breakfast. lol

Pack Your Bags!!

I finished the other recipe book that I said I was making, this one is for my cousin who loves to travel and cook.
The papers are from Kaisercraft Pack Your Bags collection which I thought was quite appropriate for Michael. I used a Martha Stewart punch called Iron Gate border that I've had for some time and hadn't used. I love it. I feel it added an Eastern/Asian look to the cover. Again I used the die cut elements that go with this paper for the divider tabs. One of the papers in the set has different journalling pictures so I cut them out and with the left over die cut elements added them to the dividers for added decoration. This time I've taken pics of the different dividers I made for him.
Each one has a pocket made with the contrasting papers. The dividers for this book are all two pieces of dp joined together.
The letters I used on the cover and my own cover are some that I've had for years. They are by Cloud 9 Design and are called Alpha Rain Dots. Goodness knows whether they even still are available. I used the white letters on my recipe book and for Michael's I used black letters. I thought I'd add a 'Leigh' touch by having the words go 'round the world' so to speak. Actually I'm much happier with this cover than I am with my own.

Tea at Elsie's Recipe Book

While I was in Brisbane at the Scrapbooking and Papercraft Expo I did a class with Alison Hannah from Kaisercraft. It was to make a recipe book. We were provided with a kit which included papers from the Tea at Elsie's range, Chipboard journal (includes pages), ribbons, diecut elements, chipboard letters, rings etc.
I finished mine at home because I like to use 'the glue and file the paper back' technique to cover chipboard. Here is the finished result. I've put a 'Leigh' touch to my recipe book and added many more dividers than the original. The dividers can be made from single sheets of co ordinating papers or as some of mine are, two sheets taped together. The tabs are just the die cut elements folded in half and attached to each divider, ascending so as not to overlap each other, much like a set of tabbed dividers you buy in the newsagency.
The letters I used for my titles are black peel offs because I wasn't fussed on the ones that were in the kit which were letters on a square white sticky background.
I made pockets for some of the dividers with the co-ordinating papers, then used up the rest of die cut elements by decorating some of my dividers.
Easy. The only thing to be done now is to mod podge the covers, front and back to protect them.
I didn't photograph every divider, very tedious but I'm sure you get the idea but if you want to know more, please email me. :)

All a Flutter With Thanks

Inspired by this card by Wendy Janson, I made a thank you card for a friend of mine. I used exactly the same sketch, colours and punch but changed the stamps, ribbon, greeting and added bling instead of stickles. I coloured the butterfly with Really Rust and Barely Banana adding shimmer paint to give the butterfly some shine. I stamped him twice but cut one out after I coloured him and moulded the wings with graduating foam squares to 3d him. Trés Chic is the background I used, positioning it using the stamp-a-ma-jig so the two stampings came out even. The ribbon is gorgeous and is out of the Valet set of ribbons. Along the punched line, I've added little bling but it's not showing up very well in the photo.
Yesterday I worked on my recipe book using a Kaisercraft journal and Tea at Elsie's papers which was a class I took while I was at the Brisbane Papercraft Expo. I've also started another one for my cousin who loves to cook and travel using the Pack Your Bags papers.
So hopefully I should finish at least one of them today.

Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo Brisbane

I'm back and still very tired. I had the best time at the show and it was so great to meet up with people I knew in person and others that I only knew through blogs...waving at you Kathy and Tracy.
Jane, it was fabulous to see you again, wish we had longer to chat. Here are some pics that I took on the very last day.

Kathy and I at the Copic wholesale stand where Kathy, Mandy and team were demoing copics all weekend. After many months of commenting on Kathy's blog I finally met her in person. Wonderful to meet you Kathy. I did one of Mandy's classes and really liked it. Thanks for all the help you gave me Kathy and Mandy especially Kathy when we sort of took over the copics display at Arnold's!!!

The Stampin' Up stand where the girls still managed to smile. Thanks for all the cloak room service girls, luv ya!!

This is Tracy from My 2 Angels on the Gold Coast. I have bought quite a few charms from Tracy and it was fantastic to meet her in person.

Bird Clock

Here is another clock I have made. This one is for a girlfriend's mother-in-law. It's her birthday next week. I'm not as happy with it as I could have wished. The rubon moved when I was rubbing it on and then after using my Crystal Effects to glue the flowers and leaves on, I stood it up. Came back later to find the jolly stuff had run down the inner square edge and formed a big blob!!!! Panic!!!!! So I added some more pearls to the edges of the square, the rubons in the other square and just hope that it looks alright. I couldn't add any rubons because there wasn't enough room and I like to seal them under a coat of mod podge before adding embellishments.

I fly out tomorrow to Brisbane for the Scrapbooking and Papercraft Expo. Kerry and I have classes booked and are so looking forward to seeing everyone we know to have a chat, coffee etc.

Blue and Green should never be seen????

Well I don't know about the old saying but I do like these two colours together. Glorious Green and Tempting Turquoise were the colours used on the Fifth Avenue Floral rose doing the reinker float technique. I used shimmer white cardstock because the shimmer in the c/s shines through the ink when the colours are dry. Now the combination of colours and basic sketches are attributable to Alisa Tilsner who was published in a papercraft magazine with a set of cards similar to these.
A friend of mine had the article and wanted to learn how to do it, but she didn't want to use different colours. So to make sure I could do it properly, I made my own using just the rose and instead of the watercolour paper, shimmer c/s. Sue was thrilled with the technique and absolutely loved playing.
I've changed some of the embellishments, used a textured impressions emb folder and different sentiment stamps to make the cards more "me".
The shimmer c/s was stamped with versamark and them white embossed. After doing the colours I let the whole sheet of completed flowers dry and cut them out closely to the embossing.
The first card was completed without the embossing, then after another friend of mine suggested something on the T/Turquoise background, I did the rest using the embossing folder which makes them look heaps better.

Bella Rose birthday

A birthday card for a daughter of a friend of mine. The inspiration for this card came from this card by Valita.

I have seen these scrunched flowers around so much and hadn't tried one for myself until this afternoon. After I had actually made one, I was quite happy with it. The colours of the card were determined by the dsp I used for the flower which is Bella Rose. Base is Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette has the border from Vintage Vogue stamped in Chocolate Chip on it then another layer of CC with strips of Bella Rose dsp layered. The ribbon is Riding Hood Red taffeta.

Leaves are the sizzlits die that is in the latest Autumn mini catalogue and I also used the tag punch and Teeny Tiny sentiments that are in the same catalogue.
