Friday's workshop

Hello everyone.
Just to let you know that I'm still around. Another workshop on Friday just gone. The ladies made 3 cards (I was again feeling generous). Ten were at Friday's workshop and they loved the cards. I made two of each card as samples to put on the table. It was much easier for them that way....no asking "Who has the real card?" lol
I emailed Kylie and asked her if it was ok to case her gorgeous card for the workshop. She was so pleased that I loved her card.
I used the flat backed pearls out of the Stampin' Up Pretties kit instead of the Kaiser pearls. It was the first time I had used my Pretties kit....I think çause it's so gorgeous I didn't want to use any of it. lol The ladies enjoyed embossing and also using a glue pen (non SU) for the Diamond Dust on the Christmas Tree. So I helped out Anne with sales of Glue pens too. lol
So to summarise: Stamps - Season of Joy, Cardstock - Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Old Olive, Certainly Celery DSP, Ink - Old Olive, Versamark, Accessories - Silver embossing powder, flat back pearls in white and cream from the Pretties kit, certainly celery wide grosgrain ribbon and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Non Stampin' Up item was the Quickie Glue Pen.
The next card was a remake of one I did for a swap using Tart and Tangy out of the Spring Mini.
I revamped it by using some ribbon, just to give it that little extra something.
The colours of the striped grosgrain ribbon Stampin' Up have this year are absolutely gorgeous. I love them. In my opinion the white with the Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi and Bashful Blue just make the colours so fresh. This card was chosen also because I wanted to showcase the Stampin' Write markers. For this month, 10th to the 30th November these markers are available to be purchased singularly for $4-95 each. Great idea. Stampin' Up rubons are also 20% off with a $20 order as well. Quite a good deal. Consequently I used white rubons on the cards. So what I used.....Stamps - Tart and Tangy, Cardstock - Whisper White, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, East Coast Prep DSP, Ink - Garden Green (for the apple), Accessories - Garden Green & Real Red markers, Eastern Elegance & Perfect Day white rubons and Real Red striped grosgrain ribbon.
I hope to have a play with my new goodies that I received last week from the "NEW" summer mini catalogue which is full of fantastic yummy stamp sets, papers and punches, all to be released to customers on the 1st December. Not long to go!!!!
I've also booked my trip to Canberra next year for Stampin' Up's 2009 convention. My OH and I decided that it would be worth my while to go down earlier to be able to fit in a trip to the Australian War Memorial. That is first on my list of must sees. I really want to be able to put a poppy next to my cousin's name on the Roll of Honour. Then because I spent so many years working in banks, I would like to see the Royal Australian Mint. I was very nearly going to stay another day too after convention but decided that my family (including Larry the bird) would be missing me by then. Well I hope they will be. lol I actually enjoyed sussing out the places to stay and printing off maps of where I want to go. There is a Hop on, Hop off day and half day tour available that I think I may do as well, don't know yet. I'll be able to potter around to my hearts content. lol
As well as Canberra, I'm off to Brisbane on the June long weekend for the Scrapbook and Papercraft convention. Air fares at the mo are cheaper than I paid this year so I figured I would book my travel and accomodation and then it would be done and out of the way. All I have to do then is pack and GO!!! Woo Hoo.
Hope I'll be back later today with a card creation depending on how the rest of my day pans out.
Thanks for looking in.
