Little Paper Shop sketch for SOA

I joined the SOA site and there's a lovely sketch on there created by Little Paper Shop.
Again on my mission to make wedding cards using Bella Bleu papers here is the card I made.
I'm so happy with the way it turned out. The stamp Love and Marriage is by PSX.
Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day.

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #8

I'm on a mission at the moment to make wedding cards for the Tourist Centre. I liked Makeesha's Inkspirations sketch so here's my wedding card using Bella Bleu papers and Together Forever stamp set.
I've got a thing about vellum at the moment so that is the top layer of the centre piece, then very vanilla and kraft on the bottom. Each layer is stamped and positioned over one another.
Love that kraft taffeta ribbon. Gorgeous.
Today I managed to make two other wedding cards using Bella Bleu dsp so will put them up at some stage tomorrow, probably after I do my volunteer stint at the Tourist Centre in Sarina.
Monday morning is tied up with CWA. Each year CWA has a different country of study. There is a competition open to the school children to do projects, colouring in depending on their age, for each year's country of study. This year the country is Madagascar.
We have an outsider judge each category and award 1st, 2nd, 3rd and merit places. Then the 1st place winners go on to be entered in the Division competition then onto State.
So my job as the branch International Officer, is to present the certificates to the children on school parade.
It's usually done at our hall with all the entries displayed on boards but this year International Day had to be cancelled due to the school having state tests that day.
So that was another job I completed today, printing out all the certificates and adding the judge's comments etc.
Right O, I'm off to bed now. Very tired. 'Night.

Companion Scapbook Page

Here is the page that I've done as the opposite to my first one. I used the same colours but just altered the embellisments a touch.
This sketch is one that was given out at the Scrapbooking morning that I went to Tuesday week ago. So I had the huuuuuuge day on the Saturday at South's League Club then went again on the Tuesday for a morning and early afternoon session. The sketch is called Square It/Round It. The idea being to have the rounded corners, circles in the missing section but still be a square format.
I did find it a bit hard to cut my photos down to 4" square and the one that explains what these particular model houses are, I couldn't cut it down at all so I printed the information onto a journalling mat and made it 4 x 4. I think it's worked out well. The original lesson didn't mention matting the photos but I felt the Chocolate Chip brings out the colours better. Also in the missing corner the original lesson had 3 circles largish circles there but as I wanted to match the previous page, I used my flowers and another set of circle stamps I have by Hero Arts.
I kept to the metal elements by three brads on the ribbon and brads in the centres of the circles and flowers. The two pages together look quite ok so I'm a happy bunny.

On that Tuesday I booked my place for the Scrapbooking Retreat being held on the weekend 31st July. So Kerry, Therese, Dianne and I are off to that. Definitely looking forward to it, no cooking, no housework, just sociallising and crafting the whole weekend. Excellent!!!!
Thanks for looking and reading. Have a good day.

Mojo Monday Week 88

Here is a card I made for the Mojo Monday challenge. It wasn't until it was finished that I decided that I like it. lol Wasn't that keen on it half way through.
The Banksia stamp is from the SU Bloom Away set and the dsp is Windsor Knot. I just coloured the image with my brush (not water brush, too much water) and water colour crayons.
The circles are cut with my Nesties.
Thanks for looking.

It's Finished!!!

I have finished my scrapbook page that I've been working on since Tuesday. I had the photos stuck down then yesterday at Leah's, I ripped them all up and started again. I wanted to combine CM papers with my SU textured cardstock, so I worked out what colours co-ordinated with the papers and have gone from there. Then there was the texture and embellishments to think about, I didn't want a 'flat' page. The sketch I used is one that Mandy gave as a challenge to a Yahoo group I belong to. It wasn't an easy process by any means but I'm absolutely so happy with my finished page.

I used Circle Circus which I have loved from when I first saw it in the new SU catty and was stoked when I found out it was one of our gift sets at Convention. There are sooooo many uses for this set, in particular, some of the circles lend themselves so well to Oriental cards.
It's All Good from last year was another set that I used as well as Lovely as a Tree. Then there is all the 'metal' eg silver brads, filigree brads, buckle and a clip. Actually the buckle was added as a brain storm whilst talking to my friend Robyn who is a scapbooker from way back. Thanks Rob. That strip of ribbon was looking very bland and was worrying me çause I didn't know what to do with it. lol

After using the CM curvey cutter I have now ordered it. The flowers are Hero Arts and my trusty Martha Stewart branch punch and SU eyelet border punches were used too.
I've left the writing, had to take the photo first.

I had an email from Ngaire Anderson regarding a comment I had made on her blog, telling me that scrapbooking, in her opinion, is not about how good the pages look to everyone else but if those pages hold a memory and you enjoyed doing them, then that is what counts.
So after doing my page, I now agree wholeheartedly.
Thanks Ngaire for your words of wisdom.

Another thing I need practice with is my photography skills. Oh well, perhaps that will come with time.
Thanks for looking and just maybe you may like my page as much as I do myself. lol

Tiger and Elephant

I'm back. Now I know these cards aren't strictly stamping but I think that these particular 3d's are different and lend themselves to being jazzed up a bit.
Both these cards were done in a class but only with the base card, the 2 pieces of dsp and the 3d image. I wanted to put my own 'stamp' on them to be a bit different.

All the edges of the top pieces that have been 3d'd have been inked around the edges with brown ink. This one I used Tim Hotlz's distress ink Vintage Photo. Uninked edges don't blend in with the pic and look unfinished. The greeting has beens tamped and clear embossed with Vintage Photo distress ink and this ink CAN be embossed if you are quick. The ribbon is from a pack I found online one day. It's not easy to get different animal ribbons. This pack has a zebra, leopard, tiger, and a couple of others. The beads I picked up at Needleworx here in Mackay on Monday. Thought they would be cool with these cards. I used retired SU black hemp to thread the beads onto. A photo corner with a brad finished it off. I'm really happy with the way this card has turned out.

This one of the elephant I had started ages ago but wasn't finished and had a different ribbon on it and I didn't like the way it was, so today I got into it and fixed it up. The twill tape is from SU and the twine is retired SU black hemp. Again I've added the beads. This time I used some metal photo turns that I had in my stash. Again the edges have been inked in brown ink, I think I used Versamagic Jumbo Java on this one and the greeting (retired SU set) has been stamped and clear embossed with Jumbo Java as well.
My silly sense of humour came out here, 'cause elephants aren't supposed to forget, are they?? rofl Well I was amused anyway!!! It's the little things you know...

Thanks for looking.

Grandparent card

I had a request from a friend to make her a Grandparent card. I have this Grandparent verse stamp from Verses Rubber Stamps and thought it would be perfect for this card. Then I had to think of what to do with it. lol
Mmmmmm, not knowing whether the baby to be is a boy or a girl, I decided on the Tea Party dsp from SU. I used the matching set Playful Petals to stamp around the Top Note die piece in the colours matching the dsp. Sponged around the edge with Almost Amethyst and cut a backing piece for the top note die in Almost Amethyst. The lace I had in my stash and the pearls are from Kaisercraft.
Mmmmm don't think it needs any more on it, çause I want the verse to be the feature and the rest just to highlight that it is for a baby.
What do you think?

Thanks for looking,

Scrapbooking!!!

I'm here, I'm still around, just haven't got any pictures to show you at the moment but I can tell you what I've been up to. lol
Believe it or not....Scrapbooking. Every three months, the Creative Memories consultants in Mackay district get together and organise a mammoth scrapbooking weekend with prizes etc etc. Quite a few of my friends go to these days so I booked into the Sat session 10am to 4pm but by lunch time I hadn't done any scrapping, too busy being social eg laughing, talking, having coffee, you know the sort of thing.
So since there was some room left I booked into the night session too.
I had a ball, didn't get home until 10.30pm Saturday night but it was sooooo worth it. Scrapbooking has never been my 'thing' but I turned up one day at the Ilbilbie classes and really enjoyed myself. So I started a Calendar Album, which is now nearly completed to the end of April. At this stage I have kept with the Creative Memories products but once I get some sort of grasp on the subject I thought I could branch out and use my Stampin' Up and other brands stash.
While I was in Canberra I took over 500 photos so I thought they would make a lovely album once completed.
I did finish some yesteryear cards on Friday for the Tourist Centre. My cards in there are getting low.
The next couple of days are write offs as far as my cardmaking goes though, maybe Wednesday.
Thanks for visiting.

Bella Blue wedding card

Well this is my latest card. One of my girlfriends wanted a wedding card so here it is. I wanted to use vellum and the Bella Bleu papers together. The hatpin is from the pretties kit and the ribbon is kraft taffeta ribbon.
Hope you like it.

Thanks for looking and I hope to be back with another card tomorrow.
ETA - I forgot to add that I got the inspiration for this card from the SCS gallery.

My Convention Swaps

I thought you may like to see the swaps I made for Convention. I was worrying that people wouldn't like them but I managed to swap all 116!!! I was so surprised. Thank you everyone.
Probably for next year I would make more, well I say that now with all good intentions. lol

Convention in Canberra

Well at long last here I am. Picked up my computer on Wednesday afternoon. It's brain was faulty....yeah, I know, no smart comments please. pmsl Apparently it's an unusual problem and it would happen to be my computer that it happened too. Oh well, fixed now. Tony had to isolate every component of my computer to find the problem. Too complicated for me.

Now onto other things, this is the first real chance I've had of sitting down and looking at people's blogs, checking emails and uploading the photos I took while I was away, all 552 of them!!!

You may have noticed I've changed the photos on my blog, now you can see me and not a bird!!! Good on ya Debbie and Mandy!!!! lol

I had a ball in Canberra sightseeing and attending SU Convention. In the time I had, Tuesday afternoon 'til Thursday lunchtime, I managed to visit Cockington Green Gardens, Federation Square, the Australian War Memorial, the Royal Australian Mint and the National Museum of Australia. There was so much I could have done but unfortunately I ran out of time. There is definitely another trip to Canberra planned this time taking OH. I certainly am going back to the War Memorial because there was so much to see and I couldn't see it all in the time I had.

Thursday afternoon was spent trying to catch up with Debbie Pamment and after that with Jane wandering around the Canberra Centre, with me knocking over a dummy, Jane throwing her mobile phone away and us trying to catch up with Venessa, Kim and everyone - moving targets. rofl Yep, lots of fun and Jane and I were in stitches laughing. We had drinks and laughs in the restaurant of the Waldorf with Kim, Venessa, Chrissy, Jenny, Alice, Martyn, Debbie, Judy, Brenda and Charlie, then we all went out to Hogs Breath for tea. Sorry if I've missed anyone out in that list, there were so many people to meet.
Convention started on Friday morning and it was full on straight away and continued right through until Saturday evening. It was wonderful to meet people I only knew from my blog and the demo groups. I enjoyed the make and takes. It was great just to sit and have a play. All the talks were very inspiring and I especially loved the general sessions where we saw stamping techs, wows and lots of other things demoed. Wonderful. Shelli's presentation was fantastic.
I also enjoyed Nicki Tidbold's presentation on male stamping because I have a family of males too.
Here's some photos.

Jean my upline and Jane my room mate.

Debbie Pamment and I. This was on the second day and coffee was available, YES!!!!
Great fun to meet you Debbie, another House Mouse lover.

Mandy Schiller and I. It was wonderful to meet Mandy and we had a great time on Thursday night.

The room all dressed up and ready for us!!!
Me on Saturday night, trying to see what I've just taken on my camera. Can you tell what the problem is, yep, no glasses!! rofl
I so much wanted to meet Chris who helped me with sightseeing info for Canberra. We texted each other but then we were straight into the second day of convention and that was it.
So ends convention for another year. All ready for Sydney???
Thanks for looking and I'll be back with my swaps.

I'm baaaacccckkkk!!!!!!!

Well I arrived back from Canberra on Sunday afternoon. I've unpacked, washed and put things away. It was rather sad coming home in a way, 'cause I had such a good time down there with my sightseeing and then the Convention, but was still pleased to see my family including the animals.
I've got photos to show you all but can't do it yet as my computer isn't ready until tomorrow. I'm using my OH's laptop at the moment. Better than nothing. lol
So watch this blog!!!!
